Many of us in Michigan (as well as elsewhere: Ohio, New York, Texas, California, Maryland, Virginia come to mind) are now actively breeding polled (naturally hornless) Jerseys.

There are over 30 evaluated or sampled polled Jersey sires in AI, plus many on farms, and at least one sire syndicate (Ohio's NorthCoast Group) actively propogating polled. So many herds now have a few polled animals, even if it was not a focus of their breeding selection.
Polled has many advantages that are more valued in the subtropics (SE USA, Mexico, Latin & South America),any grazing herds with spring season calving, certified organic dairies, and in Europe (where animal rights legislation affects dehorning procedures).
